Sunday Worship
An encounter with God every week — passionate praise, Word-centered teaching, and a community that welcomes everyone through the door.
A Spirit-filled church in the heart of the Phoenix Valley, led by Bishop Rick Garrett and Pastor Debra Garrett. Gathering every Sunday to worship, grow, and serve together.
The Message Church was founded on a simple conviction: that the Gospel transforms lives. We are a community of believers committed to worship that is authentic, teaching that is rooted in Scripture, and relationships that go beyond Sunday.
Whether you are a lifelong believer or someone exploring faith for the very first time, there is a place for you here. Come as you are — and discover who you were made to be.
We started The Message Church because we believed the Phoenix Valley needed a place where people could encounter God honestly — not a performance, but a genuine family of faith.
Bishop Rick Garrett and Pastor Debra Garrett lead The Message Church with a shared heart for the Valley. Their ministry is marked by a deep commitment to Scripture, compassionate pastoral care, and a culture where every person is seen and genuinely valued.
Whether you are navigating a life transition, seeking a spiritual home, or simply exploring faith for the first time — the Garretts extend a personal invitation: come and see what God is doing in Tempe.
An encounter with God every week — passionate praise, Word-centered teaching, and a community that welcomes everyone through the door.
Real relationships built through small groups meeting throughout the week. Study Scripture, share life, and grow together in the Valley.
Faith that moves beyond the walls. We serve our neighbors in Tempe and across the Valley — meeting needs and bringing hope.
"Come as you are —
leave changed."
I walked in not knowing what to expect and left feeling like I had found a family. Bishop Rick's teaching is grounded, real, and meets you exactly where you are in life.
Pastor Debra has a gift for pastoral care unlike anything I have experienced. She walked with us through one of the hardest seasons of our marriage and never stopped believing in us.
I came to The Message Church as a skeptic. The community was so genuine and the worship so real that I couldn't stay skeptical for long. This is the church I had been looking for.
The outreach ministry changed my perspective on what a church can be. We are not just gathering on Sundays — we are genuinely serving and transforming our community together.
No dress code, no obligation. Just come and experience what God is doing at The Message Church. Bishop Rick and the pastoral team are here to welcome you personally every Sunday.

Not at all. We are a come-as-you-are church. Whether you arrive in a suit or jeans, you are welcome. What matters is that you show up — God will take care of the rest.
A typical Sunday at The Message Church includes Spirit-led praise and worship, Scripture-based teaching from Bishop Rick Garrett, a time of prayer, and warm community. We welcome first-time guests and there is never any pressure to participate in anything you are not comfortable with.
Yes — we are committed to the next generation. Age-appropriate children's ministry runs during the main Sunday service so that parents can worship fully. Contact us to learn more about our current children's programs and age groups.
Life Groups are the heartbeat of our community during the week. These small gatherings meet throughout the Phoenix Valley for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Reach out and we will help you find the right group for where you are in life.
